Compete RI & Rhode Island communities

Compete RI was initiated in 2022 to showcase Rhode Island's strengths and bring communities together. The initiative has connected cities, towns, agencies, and educational institutions to collaborate on the state's future, leveraging federal grants and funding opportunities. We serve as a hub for convening, connecting, and collaborating, and has received recognition for its successful approach to federal funding.

Moving forward, the focus is on building capacity for municipalities, promoting environmental justice, and enhancing equity and access for all residents. The initiative has assisted in securing over $1. 5 billion in grant funding and engaged with every city and town in the state, along with higher education institutions.

Compete RI remains dedicated to workforce development, manufacturing initiatives, and supporting community-based organizations, setting an example for partner organizations nationwide. This collaborative effort aims to strengthen Rhode Island and create a model for success.
